Beauty In Strength; Growing Beyond Family Domestic Violence

“My mission is to end the cycle of domestic violence in Australia. To achieve this, I will continue to share lessons from my own background to empower others to take ownership of their lives, regardless of what may have happened in the past. With the right plan and support network in place, people are free to embrace the journey and live a life of passion, happiness and love.”

Living with domestic violence in my family has affected my outlook on life. What I experienced and what I witnessed as a child has led me to see the world from a different perspective to many other people. I have worked through my anger and depression by being involved in sport and that has given me a level of happiness and positivity in my life.

My story goes into the depth of my childhood. What I experienced and how I’ve now changed proves that no matter where you’ve come from or what you’ve been through, you can change your life if you really want to.

I wouldn’t say that I have it all figured out. I am still dealing with the struggles of my childhood today, but I am determined to be the best version of myself that I can be so that I can make a positive impact on other people’s lives.

I offer my experience in the hope that it will inspire at least one other person to go out and live their purpose and not be afraid of stepping into their true self.

You don’t have to have lived experienced of domestic violence to read my story. I share with you my lessons learned and how to work through challenges you may face in your life. These other challenges also include the loss of a miscarriage, my deceased father and how to find real love after coming from a broken home. I share my competition experiences and how I made it to competing on the world stage in CrossFit and being crowned Miss Figure Australia.

Some love from our readers

"I so enjoyed reading 'Beauty in Strength'. I actually read it in two days. The way Darcia writes is so down to earth. No matter your background and/or stage of life, Darcia has a message to teach everyone. Some of my favourite points I took from 'Beauty in Strength'... Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you; share similar goals/passions and are there for you, good times and bad... If you want to make change in your life, you are your biggest advocator. Change may be scary to begin with, but if you don't start now then when will you... Be proud of yourself and your accomplishments. Will leave the rest for you to discover. I really enjoyed reading someone's 'story'. Overcoming hardships yet living your best life. I would highly recommend reading Beauty in Strength."

Reading Darcia's story and being present at her book launch was such an enlightening and empowering experience because she is so genuine, open and honest about how she has created the best lifer herself by taking ownership and living with love, purpose and passion. Beauty In Strength bravely shares an important perspective on family domestic violence through Darcia's experience as a child growing up in an abusive and challenging home environment. How she chose to harness her natural talent and passion for sport and fitness to change her path, shows us all the we have a choice to remain 'victim' to our hurdles or harness them to become lessons for our own growth. We each have a responsibility for our own journey and Darcia's story highlights how you can take control of your reactions, relationships and choices to lead the best life imaginable, no matter where you come from. Amazing! Thank you for writing this book!

"This book is important. Not just for those that have suffered at the hand of domestic violence but for anyone who has faced adversity. A story of hope and inspiration, Darcia’s journey illustrates what can be achieved when the choice is not to become the victim of but to stand on the pain of adversity and create change, break the cycle and deliberately build a life of personal meaning and purpose. A life of Beauty and Strength"
